The Anicare Veterinary Hospital is located in rural Central Saanich. Anicare has been independently owned since Alistair Bryson first established it in 1991 with the conversion of the existing farm house into a fully functioning small animal hospital. Scottish Veterinarian Dr. Jonathan Smith purchased the practice in 1999.
Dr.Jonathan Smith continues to independently own and operate the Anicare Veterinary Hospital. He grew up in Scotland and graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1989. He moved with his wife Ina to Canada in 1995. They live on the Peninsula with their 2 daughters, 1 dog and 3 horses. Jonathan works in all areas of small animal medicine and surgery, and has a special interest in allergies. He is also trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine offering acupuncture, herbal treatments and diet therapy.
Dr. Corinne Chapman was born in BC and grew up on the mainland dreaming that one day she would be a Veterinarian. After graduating from WCVM in Saskatoon, SK in 1997, she started working in Calgary as an emergency doctor. Eventually Corinne opened her own house call practice, RockyRidge VetCare Ltd, which allowed her to pursue a more holistic approach to medicine.
During this time Corinne became certified in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture as
well as Nutrition. In 2018 the family moved to Vancouver Island where they could live a more
outdoorsy lifestyle. Corinne spent a fun 4 years with Kindred Spirits, but has truly found her
home and family at Anicare.
Dr. Chapman’s furry family includes her Shepherd Cross “Stella”, a crazy rat terrier cross “Gary”, and a brother and sister cat team “Beans & Pickles”. Her home is rarely quiet, and NEVER hair free, but it is full of love and giggles.
Dr. Georgia Quinlan is a locum veterinarian that fills in for us a few days a month. Georgia started out her career working in general practice at Anicare. After spending the past two years working in emergency medicine across various hospitals in the USA, she has returned to Canada and is looking forward to the continuity of care that general practice provides
